Brenda Fiala

Dr.
Brenda Fiala is passionate about
strategy and leadership excellence. She challenges those who say
that these are two separate disciplines and readily points out
examples from both her own experience and throughout industry
that prove her point.
Brenda
has lived and worked in the Far East, Europe and the Americas;
undertaking strategic and sensitive assignments for some of the
world’s largest companies.
Previously
she spent four years in the global strategy group of Diageo plc,
the #1 spirits company in the world. In this role, she designed
and led several business strategy sessions with the Diageo CEO
and the Diageo executive Directors. Additionally she took her
passion for strategy and leadership around world, working on business
strategy projects in Western Europe, North America, South America,
Eastern Europe, Africa and Asia. Achievements include: creating
the strategy to re-launch Baileys ® Irish Cream liqueur and
Guinness beer ® in China, devising both the marketing and
the sales strategy for the in-market companies in Italy and Brazil,
and developing the global external affairs strategy.
Prior
to Diageo, Brenda worked for the Pillsbury Company in the USA
where she led a major multi-functional project to enable the organizations
to maximize growth by identifying and leveraging its unique skills
and knowledge base.
In
addition, Brenda worked as a business growth, organizational development,
and innovation consultant. New products and services were developed
for an international food company, a US based national law firm,
and several American state government departments. Brenda was
also an adjunct professor at the University of Minnesota. Where
she developed and taught courses on leadership, personal capital
development, innovation, and organizational performance.
Brenda
holds a Masters in Chemistry from the California Institute of
Technology and a Ph.D. from the University of Minnesota in Learning
Theory. She wrote her thesis on building true value generating
organizations.
In
addition to consulting, Brenda Fiala is teaching MBA students
at the Asian Institute of Management and is working on book about
the new Chinese consumer.
